'Make change or make way': Conor McGregor blasts Irish police chief following firey but mostly peaceful Dublin protests
UFC fighter Conor McGregor spoke out against Irish Police Commissioner Drew Harris on Thursday after citizens took to the streets in firey but mostly peaceful protests following the stabbing of up to five people, including children.
Angry citizens spoke out in protest after the stabbings, with some clashing with police officers. Commissioner Harris called the protest disgraceful and claimed it was “hooligan faction driven by far-right ideology.” Harris refused to speculate on a terrorist motive for the stabbings and said people had to keep an open mind until they are sure what the motive is."
The suspect is believed to be an Algerian immigrant. Unclear is whether the Irish press operates like the American press, which is believed by critics to withhold identifying suspects as long as they can if the suspect goes against the narrative.
Conor says bollocks to the commissioner.
"Innocent children ruthlessly stabbed by a mentally deranged non-national in Dublin, Ireland today. Our chief of police had this to say on the riots in the aftermath. Drew, not good enough. There is grave danger among us in Ireland that should never be here in the first place, and there has been zero action done to support the public in any way, shape or form with this frightening fact. NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Make change or make way."
The suspect -- again believed to be Algerian -- was stopped by one man, who said of his heroism "I did what anyone would do. People were there but they couldn’t step in because he was armed, but I knew I could use my helmet as a weapon.”
McGregor appears to be voice the frustration of Irish citizens who have been warning about this. One reporter, who claimed concerns about mass immigration were nothing more than "far-right extremism," was chased away from the location of the stabbing.
Fox News reports of the initial knife attack: "5-year-old girl was receiving emergency medical treatment in a hospital. A woman and two other children were also injured. A 6-year-old girl sustained less serious injuries, and a boy was discharged from a hospital, officials said."
A man in his 50s is being held as a "person of interest" in the attacks.
