You'd think any college writing center would have a lot to say on the subject of grammar. Mostly how important it is to learn the difference between "they're" and "their," and that Wikipedia is not an acceptable source for research papers... But also sometimes that grammar is racist. The basics.

In case you're wondering - yes, this is a COLLEGE writing center that has declared grammar racist. Not a Black Lives Matter book club. Take a gander at their "reasoning" below...

The poster, written by the director, staff, and tutors of the University of Washington, Tacoma’s Writing Center, states “racism is the normal condition of things,” declaring that it permeates rules, systems, expectations, in courses, school and society.

In the introduction to its “commitment” section, the Tacoma Writing Center pledges to “listen and look carefully and compassionately for ways we may unintentionally perpetuate racism or social injustice, actively engaging in antiracist practices” before making nine specific promises to students.

“We promise to emphasize the importance of rhetorical situations over grammatical ‘correctness’ in the production of texts,” announces the poster. “We promise to challenge conventional word choices and writing explanations.”

Yes, their explanation makes no sense. Zero plot twists here. If you're a regular of LwC, you've come to expect this type of thought dribble from the modern college campus. But that's because you're a racist, of course.

At some point, you'd think the left would run out of things to call racist, right (see ‘Mic’ Video Claims EVERYONE is Racist and BuzzFeed Faces Major Backlash for Racist Video)? NOT TODAY!  Nor tomorrow. There's no end in sight. When it comes to these "enlightened" campuses, there's also no oxford commas or basic sentence structure in sight. #Progress

In short? Grammar is racist... And to enforce grammar on other people is racist. Because reasons.
