Cookie Monster is beefing with Fozzy Bear over Joe Biden's sh*tty economy. Welcome to politics in 2024! Where someone dropping X on behalf of a Muppet has created it's own news cycle. Whether or not the X-Twitter post was part of Biden's PR push for Thursday's State of the Union address, let's see how you feel when we get to end this story.
At issue is "shrinkflation," Biden's latest excuse for why everything is more expensive other than his policies making them that way. "Shrinkflation" is where companies, to stay competitive and not raise prices when every level of production is made more expensive, will sometimes make things smaller to keep the sale price the same. Every level of production is more expensive due to Biden's policies.
LWC Next Gen Stats: Bidenomics20.5% more for food at home 24% more for eggs 16.7% more for milk 18.5% more for housing 36.2% in credit card debt MINUS 7.5% in disposable income.

Biden plans to mention "shrinkflation" when he isn't being a divisive prick during Thursday's speech. In what I'm sure is a totally unrelated note, Cookie Monster is feeling the pinch of shrinkflation too.
Me hate shrinkflation! Me cookies are getting smaller. 😔

I'd like to chalk this up to a social media associate thinking they were being funny over something they saw on X-Twitter. Then I remember that social media is full of Leftist twats -- yes, even out on these Seasame Streets -- who think all platforms everywhere should be used to promote the progressive agenda. It looks a little bit too coordinated with the White House and the media (but I repeat myself).
Your liberal media in action. ABC's 'Good Morning America' did a puff piece on the Cookie Monster tweet about shrinkflation, touting replies from Democrat Senators, Bob Casey and Sherrod Brown.

One person not amused, outside of the tens of millions of Americans rolling their eyes as they see their childhood get politicized, is Frank Oz. The voice of Yoda and Fozzy thought it was gross, and could think of one other person who would agree with him. Jim Henson.
I'm shocked to see a news article on Cookie Monster talking about "shrinkflation". Jim would NEVER have allowed this. The SS Muppets need to live in their own pure world. Not our world. What has happened to the integrity of the character and the integrity of Sesame Workshop?

I will say this about shrinkflation. I wouldn't dismiss Biden's focus on this and "junk fees" completely. They ARE issues affecting American budgets and bank accounts. The fact that Democrats are going all in on it means they have polling data that tells them it's a winning issue. Like in 2022 when they campaigned on student loans, and the GOP wound up underperforming because (among other things) the number of young voters who turned out to the polls.
While campaigning on poll numbers and how unfair a politcian's life is might appeal to a niche political base, the bulk of Americans are concerned about how unfair THEIR life is.
We shouldn't dismiss the issue outright. But we need to point out how it's bullsh*t and Joe Biden is to blame for all the [solve for x]flations he wants to complain about. Items are "shrinking" because Biden policies have made it more expensive to make them at every point of production. Ingredients, energy to run the machines, fuel to deliver them to the stores, etc.]
It just looks like we have to find a way to do it with puppets.
