Jasmine Crockett says a lot of dumb things but she may have made one of her dumbest claims yet.

On Saturday, Crockett appeared on “The Katie Phang Show” where she claimed “It is not a criminal violation to enter the country illegally," emphasizing that "It’s not a crime."

I am no legal expert but the last time I checked, breaking federal immigration laws was considered a crime. Additionally, for the millionth time, can someone please tell her that just because she's screaming that does not mean she's factually or morally correct?

According to USC 1325, “Any alien who enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers," shall “be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.”

So in other words, committing a crime is a crime.

Border Czar Tom Homan responded to this “pathetic” statement by clarifying that it is “a criminal violation to enter the country legally.”

According to the Daily Caller:

“It’s a crime to enter the country illegally under Title 8 United States Code 1325 and it’s really pathetic that any member of Congress [doesn’t] understand what the law says,” Homan told host Stuart Varney. “They wrote the law, they enacted the law, [it’s] signed by a president. It is a criminal violation to enter the country legally. And if you’ve entered prior, it’s a felony.”

“So I’ve been saying this for I don’t how long on your show, and I had to educate AOC [Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez], what, years ago, during the hearing that it’s a crime to enter this country illegally and we’re going to enforce those laws.”

As you may recall, AOC too claimed a similar asinine statement.

As Homan said, Congress wrote these laws and the fact that sitting members cannot even be bothered to read them before making foolish claims proves the stupidity this country is dealing with.

In many states, a DUI is considered a misdemeanor on its first offense but you would never hear a lawmaker claim it was a "civil offense." This is the lack of logic we are dealing with and the fact that these people can vote on laws is deeply concerning.

Saying this is evidence that basic IQ tests should be a requirement to run for Congress would be an understatement.
