Dave Chappelle Breaking Leftist Barriers: 'I'm giving Trump a chance...'
SNL has had some funny election related skits (see SNL Savages NYC Liberals Watching the 2016 Election). The following clip of Dave Chappelle is serious and surprisingly reasonable. Needless to say, it likely won't do well among leftist circles. Not enough cries of "RACISM!" and chucking of Molotovs. Which is why it needs to be shared...
"I think it’s important that I say [this] because they’re marching up the street as we speak. A few weeks ago, I went to the White House for a party. It was the first time I had been there in many years and it was very exciting and BET had sponsored the party ... and I saw all those black faces — and Bradley (Cooper) — and I thought about how happy everybody was, these people who had been historically disenfranchised. And it made me feel hopeful and it made me feel proud to be an American and it made me very happy about the prospects of our country. So, in that spirit, I’m wishing Donald Trump luck, and I’m going to give him a chance, and we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he give us one too. Thank you very much."
Firstly, this an example of how someone who disagrees with Trump politically can be civil. Take notes, fellow comedians (see LIVID: Wanda Sykes Loses It When Crowd Boos Her Anti-Trump Tirade and LOL: Amy Schumer Goes on Anti-Trump Rant. Gets DROWNED OUT in Boos!). Dave Chappelle managed to get his point across without channeling the spirit of an angry turd demon. He even sprinkled some funny in there too, what with him being an actual comedian and all.
This proves Donald Trump has an opportunity to unite the country. Even though Obama went on to stomp all over the Constitution, race baiting along the way, his successful election was proof that white America is past "systemic racism." Or whatever the leftist term du jour is. Trump's success is proof that America is tired of identity politics.
Trump could serve as an example of just how tarred and feathered conservatives have been with the "racist" brush, and it may serve to open some eyes from all groups of minorities.
Time will tell. Leftists aren't going to give up easily. Clearly. Baseless accusations are waaay easier after all. Almost as easy as hulk smashing things when you don't get your way...
