Watch: Dave Portnoy doubles down on pledge not to hire Harvard grads, but gets one thing wrong about "hate" speech
Let everyone know you're a strange animal with the Strange Animal long sleeve! Get it today at CrowderShop.com.
Barstool Sports president Dave Portnoy was a guest of Stuart Varney's on Tuesday. El Pres reiterated his pledge not to hire from any of the elite universities who took part in last week's "antisemitism" hearings, where the presidents of these alleged "elite" universities couldn't say calling for Jewish genocide is bad.
Last week, the heads of Harvard, MIT, and Penn were asked if calling for the genocide of Jews violated their university’s code of conduct or rules regarding bullying or harassment. The answer? Saying Jews need to be genocided falls under "free speech," but genociding them yourself would be a bridge too far. However, if you ask SNL, the real enemy was the Republican Party for posing the question.
Portnoy said after sharing the video of the three presidents, “Not that this will make a huge difference, but moving forward, I will not hire any student who graduates from any of these schools until these Deans step down."
Attention turned to Harvard specifically on Tuesday after the Harvard Corporation simped for President Claudine Gay the same way Harvard students simped for Hamas on October 8th.
"There's a difference between free speech and hate speech, and when you're endangering people and causing harm, you have to put a stop to it."
Nothing but respect for MY president, but he falls into the trap of there being a difference between "hate" speech and "free" speech. Set aside that speech that endangers people and causes harm isn't protected under the First Amendment.
1. Hate speech isn't real. It's a catchphrase the Left came up with to control opinions they don't like that they define depending on what day of the week it is. Ten bucks says there are people accusing Portnoy of hate speech right now for criticizing Gay or even appearing on Fox News.
2. If hate speech were real, it would be protected under free speech. Cliches aside, we have the First Amendment to protect speech you hate and not the speech you like.
3. The fact these university presidents and their convoluted definitions of hate speech don't believe in free speech for almost any circumstances other than when Jews are involved is the problem.
A table full of elitist university presidents who don't believe in your freedom of speech to misgender someone, be fatphobic, or engage in whatever the f*ck "cisheterosexism" is -- all that is deemed "hate" speech -- think that calling for the genocide of Jews falls into a murky area. And it's happening on college campuses all over America.
The rest of what Portnoy says is spot on. And not unlike when he shares the important message about how corrupt the corporate journalisming industry is, it cuts through to more of a mainstream audience.
