I had every intention of being done with the debate, so let's call this post about the next debate. Or about the next debate that isn't happening and why. On Thursday, Donald Trump said there won't be a third debate. On Thursday morning, a puff piece praising debate moderator Linsey Davis accidentally(?) said the quiet part out loud about why she and David Muir ganged up on Trump.

Trump said there would be no third debate, which is a smart move. As Scott Jennings said, the next moderators would be worse.

One reason they would be worse is that they see what a glowing profile they'd get from their journalisming peers if they helped Kamala Harris win, as Linsey Davis did from the LA Times: Linsey Davis held Trump’s feet to the fire. This is how she became ABC News’ rising star.

Davis wore pink glasses to the interview at the Ritz Carlton. Seriously, it's such a puff piece; that was a crucial detail the interviewer felt needed to have mentioned.

Later in the interview, Davis admitted what the game was.

[She] said the decision to attempt to correct the candidates was in response to the June 27 CNN debate between Trump and President Biden, whose poor performance led to his exit from the race.

“People were concerned that statements were allowed to just hang and not [be] disputed by the candidate Biden, at the time, or the moderators,” Davis said.

Let's set aside that the things they "fact" "checked" Donald Trump over were true, and the "fact" "check" all went in one direction while Kamala Harris spit untruth after untruth during the few times she actually answered a question.

Davis said they didn't want a repeat of the Trump vs Biden debate where Trump's statements weren't disputed by his opponent. THAT'S LITERALLY HIS OPPONENT'S FUCKING JOB!

The debate is supposed to be between the two presidential candidates, where the two candidates who are running to be president debate each other. Joe Biden did such a piss poor job of doing that he isn't the candidate anymore. Linsey Davis admitted the decision was not to risk it with Kamala Harris. They did Kamala's job for her while letting Kamala get away with everything.

No pushback on Kamala over the economy. No pushback on Kamala over immigration. But pushback on Trump over "fact' "checking" if something was sarcasm or not.

There is no longer a reason to have any more presidential debates. Linsey Davis and her pink glasses at a ritzy hotel just exposed why.
