When Republicans threatened a government shutdown, it was for you. They were concerned about the debt, what ObamaCare was doing to our healthcare, and wanted to put a stop to it. The Democrats accused the Republicans of crimes against humanity for said shutdown. Years ago, when the Republicans shut down the government, Democrats ran about DC as if chastity leaflets rained from the sky. Accusing Republicans of everything, up to and including the mass murder of puppies.

Now it's the Democrats threatening a shutdown. Only they're doing it for... 800,000 illegal immigrants. Let this Daily Caller joint explain:

Democrats are threatening to hold national security hostage, potentially costing the economy billions and forcing hundreds of thousands of federal government employees to go without pay in exchange for securing legal protections for 800,000 illegal immigrants.

Congress has three days to strike a deal to keep the government funded through October. If members fail to come to an agreement by Jan. 19, all “non-essential” government employees and active U.S. Military personnel will be working with out pay (including troops currently deployed). Funding for agencies like federal museums or national parks will also be cut off.

Congressional Democrats are apparently content with allowing military and law enforcement personnel to go without pay to secure protections and benefits for illegal immigrants and members of their extended families.

The Democrat Party has been building toward this move (see Democrats Threaten Government Shutdown to Save DACA Program and Cory Booker Has a Bitch Fit. Squeals at DHS Secretary Over Trump’s “Sh*thole” Remark). Emboldened recently by S***holeGateGhaziPalooza.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. As the last government shutdown showed us, a lot of Americans weren't affected. No matter how much the media claimed that people were dying in the streets without their government provided cookies. An off-brand of Vanilla Wafers, if you wondered.

But it pays to point out where the two parties align their priorities. One side already wants to take away your tax cuts. Now they're willing to shut down the government, including the pay for the military, over people residing in America illegally.

Remember the Democrats are threatening to shut down their precious government over illegal immigrants the next time we're supposed to be outraged over a thing Trump pecked out on Twitter.
