Bidenomics is really doing what it was meant to do, as the world's smelliest tavern has officially opened up in the Mile High City!
A homeless camp has a decked-out open-air bar that also rents out tents for prostitution on the north edge of Downtown Denver, according to police.
The city’s growing homeless population has turned the sidewalk at 23rd and Champa streets into an encampment that features lounge chairs, umbrellas, and Astroturf.
Denver Police Patrol Division Chief Aaron Sanchez, Denver police officers, and other city officials were at the encampment after Sanchez said there had been "numerous complaints" about the encampment blocking the sidewalk.
"We're hearing there was an open bar, sales of alcohol, things like that," Sanchez said as he surveyed the scene. "We have officers looking into that."
One of the tents has reportedly been transformed into a speakeasy, with couches, tables, and rugs. The spot was littered with dozens of empty bottles of liquor that were displayed on bookcases and dressers when city officials rolled through.
Sanchez said there had been complaints about the tavern and that they "are looking into all other allegations in regards to the bar setup and along those lines."
Additionally, he said there had been complaints about the couches and tents being rented out for prostitution that were also being investigated.
Meghan Shay, Director of Development and Marketing at Step Denver, an organization that helps homeless men deal with mental health issues and recover from addiction, said she has driven by the encampment every day and that an encampment serving liquor was counterproductive because "over 80% of the homeless have experienced lifetime alcohol and/or drug problems."
It's hilarious how they actually have to send police to "investigate" as if it's going to take months to get to the bottom of this.
At least it is not a socialist encampment. I really do appreciate the entrepreneurship displayed here.
Do you think they accept EBT?
And we all know the real reason the city cares about this is because they can’t collect on those alcohol sales taxes.
Someone should have told the bartenders that as long as you are doing Fentanyl, they leave you alone.
Denver officials happily let that town turn into a zombie scene from The Walking Dead and they only care when they start getting reports about selling alcohol.
City officials are reportedly developing more housing resources for these people. What a joke.
Enough with the housing! This has nothing to do with a ‘lack of house.’ As the unshowered entrepreneurs have shown city officials they have chosen to live a degenerate lifestyle.
The mayor’s goal through the end of this year, at nearly $49 million, is to move 1,000 people into converted hotels and micro-communities set up on vacant land or parking lots.
Classic progressives, create a problem, spend an absurd amount ‘fixing’ that problem, and subsequently make everything worse.
Here is an idea that won't cost any extra funding: arrest people for drugs.
Denver’s newest open-air bar scene proves that there is nothing Bidenomics can’t do!
