Pro-tip. If you're going to do journalisming by contacting a Republican with a partisan attack you are masquerading as "reporting" or "experts say," pick someone other than Team DeSantis. They're just going to make you look like you are in fact the enemy. Also, a douche.

I had originally passed on writing about this yesterday. Not that we aren't fans of Team DeSantis telling journalismers to shine up their activism real nice, turn it sideways, and stick it straight up their...you know, the thing. But news of the Nashville shooting had just broke. Now that the media has telegraphed their line of attack, we need to be prepared for this. "Woke" is the news raaaaaaaacist dog whistle.

A "researcher" for Forbes contacted DeSantis' press secretary Bryan Griffin claiming the word "woke" has become an anti-equity slur, and workplaces shouldn't allow it. "The article references Gov. DeSantis' persistent use of the pejorative and argues he's adopted the famous Lee Atwater strategy of weaponizing code language to tap into the most primitive, racist, proclivities of his electorate."

I doubt Forbes will use Griffin's response: "'Woke'" originated as -- and continues to be -- a self-assigned label from the left. Perhaps ask the 'woke' thought leaders why so many people have rejected their hateful ideology."

This is what the next two years are going to be. Option one is that you're a raaaaaaacist, -phobic bigot if you use a word that the radical left created to describe the radical left policies you believe are detrimental to the country (like a diverse and growing group of Americans do).

Option two is being told the policies you support are going to get people killed. Killed, by someone who opposes those policies. And it won't be their fault for killing people. It will be your fault they killed people.

Journalisemers have their orders. Keep this in mind the next time a poll or study labels journalism as the least trusted institution in America and no one in the industry understands why.
