How Disney ruined Marvel's "Blade" reboot is shocking even by woke M-She-U standards
Some people are better when it comes to movies and the woke ridiculousness that goes into destroying popular franchises and other intellectual properties. My boy Brandon Morse has the genre on lock. I'm okay with simply not watching for the most part. However, I read something about how Marvel was set to ruin the Blade reboot that was a mindnumbing ridiculous parody of how people accuse Disney of ruining movies. You would think it was an episode of South Park.
Blade is a vampire hunter. Blade is an AFRICAN-AMERICAN vampire hunter. Or, a BLACK-AMERICAN vampire hunter. When Wesley Snipes portrayed Blade in the 90s, he was African-American. In the 2020s, portrayed by a two-time Oscar winner (we'll circle back to that) Mahershala Ali, he's a Black-American. It's also a casting decision woke leftists brag to their other woke leftist friends about in the 2020s. In the 90s, Blade was just an awesome movie. Either way, yay equity!
Variety has an article about how the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe has gone to shit. Quality sucks. Disney+ floods the airwaves with too much forgettable content. While the reporter didn't mention the words "get woke, go broke" since doing so would admit an ideological fault of the Left, the reason why the filming of Blade has been shelved is... wow. Emphasis mine.
With Mahershala Ali signed on for the eponymous role of a vampire, things looked promising for a 2023 release date. But the project has gone through at least five writers, two directors and one shutdown six weeks before production. One person familiar with the script permutations says the story at one point morphed into a narrative led by women and filled with life lessons. Blade was relegated to the fourth lead, a bizarre idea considering that the studio had two-time Oscar winner Ali on board.
When Ali threatened to walk over script issues -- I'm guessing the two-time Oscar winner took issue being reduced to a supporting role in a movie his character was named after -- Disney hired a new writer to start over. Hopefully, one who doesn't hate the source material.
Hiring people to play popular characters who HATE those popular characters is an odd creative direction for Disney to take. But if I can offer a suggestion? When you are interviewing writers for an established property and asking them what they think, their wanting to destroy the story and demote the two-time Oscar winner who the movie is named after should have been a red flag.
