Some may say the Trump administration is off to a rocky start. But on the issue of illegal immigration? It's been grand slam after grand slam. ICE is busting fence-jumpers like crazy and illegal border-crossing is down, big time. The DOJ even started referring to illegals as illegals, instead of the PC-friendly term "undocumented." Well, illegals and their leftist cronies are less than pleased.

There has been shift in the language that the U.S. Department of Justice is using in its press releases, and it’s not sitting well with some. The DOJ, under the leadership of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, has now begun using the term “illegal aliens” to refer to immigrants who do not have the proper paperwork to be in the United States. Last week, in announcing stricter rules for so-called sanctuary cities, a DOJ announcement said, “So-called ‘sanctuary’ policies make all of us less safe because they intentionally undermine our laws and protect illegal aliens who have committed crimes.”

Advocates for immigration reform contend that the term “illegal” is a “racial slur” and believe it is dehumanizing. Instead, they prefer if the term “undocumented immigrant” is used.

“They’re using a legally inaccurate term that’s deployed to unfairly label and scapegoat people who are out of status due to a variety of systemic circumstances,” Xakota Espinoza from the Center for Racial Justice Innovation, told LawNewz.com

How does race factor into the term "illegal" at all? The term applies to anyone who's in the US illegally. Not just crooks of the sombrero-wearing variety. If an Aussie gets drunk on Foster's and paddles his way to our shores? Surprise! Crocodile Dundee's just as much an illegal as your landscaper.

"Illegal immigrant" may not be the most endearing term, but it's straight to the point. Illegal immigrants are immigrants who are here illegally. They're also prone to other illegal acts, like raping the lasses and murdering their amigos. Crossing the border without permission is a crime. Hence illegal. Maybe I'm dense, but I'm failing to see the problem here.

If illegals and their pals have such a problem with their label, there's a simple solution. Promptly leap back over the border fence and return to the US the legal way. Problem solved. We'll greet you with open arms and an ice-cold cerveza.

Illegals can whine about the "mean" names we call them. But they brought the label on themselves when they broke the law. So spare us your sob stories.
