Donald Trump made his long-awaited announcement that, yes, he is running for reelection as president. It was a good speech and the speech he needed to give. Trump has given good speeches before, as other politicians do. The rub is that he then goes on the internet and does Trump things, and it's made clear he was only reading other people's words. But as far as a presidential announcement goes, Trump was spot on.

Three key points stood out for me. The most important line: Joe Biden is the face of left-wing failure.

After the disappointing midterm results, there are going to be people who will claim running on Biden being a loser doesn't work. That's not true. There were other reasons why we didn't do as well as we were expecting last week. But if running on inflation and crime works in the suburbs of New York, it's going to work all across America. Don't run away from criticizing Biden. Run harder towards it.

Running against allowing members of congress to trade stocks is such a win-win issue for us, it's mind-blowing we weren't doing it through the midterms. It also plays into what Dave Chappelle says was the main appeal of Trump in 2016. We know the political elite play by different rules they enforce on the rest of us. Trump was the first to call them out on it.

And this point can't be stressed enough. Leftists can never have unopposed power in this country ever again. Or any power. Ever.

Whether or not there is a primary or a coronation, that's to be determined. You may have noticed conservatives having a conversation amongst ourselves over the past week. The conversations will continue.

But Trump is in. The 2024 primary has officially started. And last night's announcement was a major step in the right direction.
