'Embarrassing Himself': More conservatives get turned off after Donald Trump's latest anti-DeSantis rant
Donald Trump, former president and current leader of the Trump First movement, issued a press release on Thursday attacking Florida Governor (and fellow Republican) Ron DeSantis. DeSantis is believed to be considering a run for the GOP presidential nomination, a role Trump feels he should be coronated for.
Trump fired the first shot as he prepares to announce his nomination on Tuesday. He accused DeSantis of being a mediocre governor "...middle of the pack—including COVID, and who has the advantage of SUNSHINE, where people from badly run States up North would go no matter who the Governor was."

DeSantis responded by... preparing Florida for another hurricane.
After #TropicalStormNicole, keep your family safe by avoiding downed power lines, keeping portable generators 20 feet outside of your home and staying away from flooded areas.

Trump's latest anti-DeSantis rant has managed to turn off more conservative supporters. We are defining "the establishment" as Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, and Kevin McCarthy. The three men that critics claim without evidence are working with DeSantis behind the scenes to screw Trump.
Author Kurt Schlichter, a man who hates the establishment more than anyone I know, was disappointed and unimpressed with Trump's latest rant. He's also been valiantly trying to convey to people that Trump is a politician who owes us HIS loyalty. We don't owe Trump (or DeSantis) ours.
It’s a stupid nickname and a stupid comment and if this is how Trump wants to go he’s going to lose his primary. But he’s a big boy and he can do what he wants. https://t.co/w8unDDizWo

Some might argue that Trump is in an all out war against his electability. I mean what the hell was that today? https://t.co/UmaLQlirn7

RDS should ignore him. It's the most brutal response possible and Trump deserves it for this embarrassing spectacle. https://t.co/PBCLZtYXMZ

Commentator Jesse Kelly, one of a few people who might hate the establishment more than Col. Schlichter, echoed these sentiments. Kelly believes a primary would have been good for everyone involved, make both candidates better, and be the best thing for America. But it may be too late for that.
I was genuinely excited to see a primary fight between these two. I think that’s what would be best for the country.
But apparently Trump is going to just embarrass himself and go down in flames and I’ll be honest, it saddens me a little. Not how the Trump era should end. https://t.co/CYVIcIsW4i

No it hasn’t. If Trump is dumb enough to attack the guy EVERY Republican in America is currently happy with, this primary is already over. He’s gonna lose at least half his support to DeSantis overnight. https://t.co/hYiRSN0Scg

BlazeTV host Allie Beth Stuckey hypothesizes Trump's rant is less about DeSantis and more about Trump being jealous there are conservatives who like DeSantis more than him.
Trump’s statement reads like DeSantis slighted him in some way, but really he’s just upset that *other* people are talking about DeSantis’s presidential potential. https://t.co/BjV3IsOPjJ

For me, politics is a zero-sum game. On 11/5/24, I will vote for whoever is wearing the red jersey and will kick the leftists out of the White House.
But it’s not the media and the establishment causing problems. It’s Trump. If you are upset that people are turning on Trump, start by holding Trump accountable for the words that come out of Trump’s mouth.
All Trump's hissyfits are managing to accomplish is shine a giant spotlight on why so many of us prefer Ron DeSantis. A man who is now in a position where he almost HAS to run. If he doesn't, it'll look like Trump meangirled him out of the primary.
