The Iowa Caucus is over and, affectively, the 2024 GOP Primary. Donald Trump is the nominee. Whether he is running against Joe Biden or someone else is to be determined. The bottom line is Donald Trump is the GOP nominee for President and now has the opportunity to regain the office he lost in 2020.

In his victory speech after a divisive (yet lopsided) primary, Trump called for unity. And that included praising his opponents Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley.

"I want to congratulate Ron and Nikki, for having a good a good time together. We're all having a good time together. I think they both actually did very well. I really do. I think they both did very well."

There were plenty of digs against his opponent Joe Biden (who sucks). But his speech was primarily one of Americans coming together.

"We want to come together whether it's Republican or Democrat or liberal or conservative, it would be so nice if we could come together and straighten out the world and straighten out the problems and straighten out all of the death and destruction that we're witnessing. It's practically never been like this. It's just so important. And I want to make that a very big part of our message. We're going to come together it's going to happen soon."

There will be hurt feelings and losers who claim you are a traitor for not supporting the politician they love. But this is what primaries are. Candidates attempt to make the case. You support the candidate who made the case to you. If another candidate made a better case to more people, it is what it is. The enemy isn't each other. It's the Democrats.

I say this as someone who has been in the room when the losing campaign realizes it's the losing campaign. It legit feels like a loved one died. Give DeSantis and Haley a little time. They see the writing on the wall and will do the right thing. And if you need time as one of their supporters, just log off X for a day or two.

This isn't the first GOP primary and it isn't the last. There are standard operating procedures and protocols after it's clear who the nominee is. We have our nominee. The job now is beating Joe Biden or whoever.
