Donald Trump SHUTS DOWN CNN's Acosta Questioning Whether He Gives 'False Hope' [VIDEO]
I'm old enough to remember when a president giving Americans hope was a good thing. There was even one president — his name escapes me right now — who they used to make posters with the word "HOPE" in capital letters. Yet with Donald Trump, it's false hope. Or a false sense of security, according to CNN senior douche correspondent Jim Acosta (see Jim Acosta Attempts to Downplay Border Crisis in Front of Angel Moms and Jim Acosta Got Kicked in the Teeth by this Former CNN Reporter).
Trump responded in a surprisingly un-Trump way. He didn't call Acosta a big stupid idiot or make fun of his mother. His answer was a lot more heartfelt.
I think from the beginning my attitude was that we have to give this country – I know how bad it was. All you have to do is look at what was going on in China. It was devastation. Look at the numbers from China, those initial numbers coming out from China. ...I want to be positive. I don’t want to be negative. I’m a positive person. Somebody said, ‘Oh, I wish he’d be more negative.’ Well, this is really easy to be negative about. But I want to give people hope, too. You know, I’m a cheerleader for the country. We’re going through the worst thing that the country’s probably ever seen.
Call me crazy. Call me naive. But I prefer the president not to panic the American people any more than we already are. People are freaked out and possibly overreacting as it is. We don't need Donald Trump pouring gasoline over it by telling people how things are worse. Not to mention, if he did do that, CNN would attack him for panicking people and NOT giving them hope.
"These next two weeks are going to suck, but we're Americans and we're going to get through this." That's a measured and reasonable response for a world leader. It's also a response that if Obama said it, the media would be throwing rose petals at his feet.
