Doocy ropes KJP in with Thanksgiving question about Bidenomics: "Why are Americans not buying it?"
Doocy played rope a dope with a dope on Monday and left Karine Jean-Pierre with only one option. Blaming Joe Biden's predecessor.
Fresh off of a Thanksgiving break where Doocy no doubt enjoyed a few of his dad's lasagna grilled cheese sandwiches (a favorite here at Brodigan Estates from the elder Doocy's cookbook), Doocy got cheeky asking KJP if she believed people sat around the Thanksgiving table remarking how much more affordable everything was and how it's all because of the wisdom of one Joseph Robinette Biden.
Spoiler: it was not. Doocy knows that. KJP pretends she doesn't know that. But we live in a world where people think families argue about politics during Thanksgiving dinner, so Doocy used that to his advantage.
Apropos of nothing, I gotta give Team Biden their roses. We were all waiting for them to send their low-information supporters home for Thanksgiving with talking points. They waited until Thanksgiving DAY to do so. Instead of the day before Thanksgiving, they waited until most of us were too busy enjoying time with our families to rip it to shreds. I ain’t even mad at it.
Doocy set up was to gauge how clueless the White House messaging was going to be. IF conversations crept up at the Thanksgiving table, it wouldn't be what a good job Biden was doing. No one was looking at receipts from grocery shopping and saying to themselves, "Self, I know this looks like a lot, but Joe Biden tells me it isn't, so I'm going to believe him instead of my own eyes."
Can the White House explain the disconnect? Of course not. So they blamed the previous president.
The previous Republican president, working in unison with a Republican-controlled Congress and a Republican-controlled Senate, had a robust economy until the pandemic hit. Joe Biden came along and used the pandemic to pass policies that made things worse. Policies that he later admitted he lied about.
Now he wants people to believe that he brought down the cost of living where, while some things might be better than they were in 2022, they are still far worse than they were when Biden took office and started f*cking things up.
All the cherry-picked statistics in the world don't matter when real people FEEL how everything is more expensive than it was pre-Biden: gas, food, basic groceries, heating your house, etc. It's basic Bidenomics. Telling people who are struggling, "Quit complaining, you don't know how well we... I mean, YOU have it."
The only statistic that matters to voters is what I call the "me and everyone I know" metric. Assign a number to yourself based on your job status and how expensive you find everything (food, gas, utilities, etc.). Plus one for everyone you know who is doing okay. Minus one for everyone you know who is not. That's the only number that matters to people when they vote, and it is how they judge the people they vote for.
