Update: Doritos fires deranged brand ambassador after MASSIVE backlash
Well, well, well. What do we have here?
Yesterday we reported about how Doritos made an abysmal marketing move and hired an alleged self-identified pedo who also happens to cosplay as a woman. Less than 24 hours later, they fired the deranged activist after the backlash regarding his abhorrent tweets.
Doritos has fired a transgender activist who appeared in one of its promotional videos after being alerted to her sickening old tweets, including one where she wrote about doing 'depraved things' to a 12-year-old.
Samantha Hudson, 24, appeared in a new partnership with Doritos Spain through a 50-second video called 'Crunch Talks that has now been deleted from the brand's Instagram.
Doritos told Rolling Stone on Tuesday it would no longer work with Hudson, saying it had been unaware of her previous inappropriate posts.
The decision follows massive backlash on social media, as users posted grabs of Hudson's previous comments.
Born Iván González Ranedo, Hudson has identified herself as 'anti-capitalist' and 'Marxist' in interviews, and claimed in one video to be for 'the abolition of [and to] destroy and annihilate the traditional monogamous nuclear family.' As a teen, she has also tweeted about wanting to do 'depraved things' to a minor.
I would say it's not impossible that Doritos was naive to the sick things this man allegedly said.
“We [Doritos Spain] recently created a content series with Samantha Hudson, a local influencer. After the campaign started, we were made aware of Samantha’s deleted Tweets from around 2015,” it said, according to NBC. “We have ended the relationship and stopped all related campaign activity due to the comments. We strongly condemn words or actions that promote violence or sexism of any kind.”
It is unclear what that means since it's a vague statement that does not specifically condemn anything besides sexism and that is most definitely not what the uproar was about. However, I would consider the actions of what he was promoting as "violence" but I digress.
But they were not naive for intentionally hiring a self-identified transgender person in hopes of throwing their ideology in everyone's face. And it is still my unprofessional opinion that marketing in a way that caters to not even a fraction of the population is not a good business move.
Maybe it's true they wouldn't have hired him had they known he is an alleged pedo. But they still pulled a Bud Light by throwing the gender-bender crap in our faces and then went on PR damage control claiming ignorance. I don't care what they did or did not know. All I know is I am not here to support a chip company that chose to make a mockery of women through their joke of a campaign.
