Coronavirus panic is causing more family feuds than Richard Dawson. And the media says, "You're dead." — something Dr. Drew wishes it would stop doing. He puts things in proper perspective. More importantly, he wants the media held responsible for stoking unnecessary panic. Whether that panic is pushed for ratings, laziness, or because a pandemic is bad for Donald Trump (see WATCH: Bill Maher’s Trump Derangement Syndrome Is Killing Him Softly and Therapists Warn of Rise in ‘Trump Anxiety Disorder’ Among Leftists) is open to interpretation. But while everyone is kung flu fighting over it, the doctor wants everyone to slow their roll.

A bad flu season is 80,000 dead. We’ve got about 18,000 dead from influenza this year; we have a hundred from corona. Which should you be worried about, influenza or corona? A hundred versus 18,000? It’s not a trick question. ...

What I have a problem with is the panic and the fact that businesses are getting destroyed, that people’s lives are being upended, not by the virus, but by the panic. The panic must stop. And the press, they really somehow need to be held accountable, because they are hurting people.

The press needs to be held accountable for lots of things. One day they might be. Also, monkeys might fly out of my butt, which is about as likely as you dying from the Kung Flu. Not that some of you shouldn't use this as an excuse to stay home. Just keep the news off. Maybe read a good book, or listen to some music. There's a lower chance that you'll be whipped into a clickbaity, desperate-for-ratings-induced frenzy.

That's the real pandemic: Our inability to trust the media to tell us the truth.
