Back in February 2019, Baylee Ashton Turner, who was 23 years old at the time and an English teacher at Sarcoxie High School, admitted to having sexual relations with one of her students. She was arrested on February 13 and charged with sexual contact with a student by a teacher, the New York Post reported at the time.

However, even after having admitted to law enforcement that she sexually assaulted one of her students, prosecutors are dismissing the charges after Turner and her victim tied the knot. When they did it is unknown.

Assistant prosecutor Nate Dally told the New York Post that “the state would have a hard time prosecuting Turner without the ability to compel the student to testify,” as Turner and her victim now benefit from spousal privilege.

It seems slightly strange that they cannot convict her with her own statement admitting to the crimes, but I’m not a lawyer—although, if the conduct of the many progressive district attorneys around the country is any indication, it doesn’t take much in the way of brains to become one; perhaps I should look into it.

This news comes as there’s a strong push by many to normalize sexual relationships between adults and children.
