Dummies. Obama Rejected Keystone XL Pipeline BECAUSE He's a Friend to "Big Oil"...
If you’ve been watching the news or reading The New York Times lately, you’ve heard about Republicans and their intimate relations with Big Oil companies. Because Keystone XL Pipeline... and racism.
Throughout the disaster that is the Keystone XL pipeline deal, the current administration (and mainstream media) have taken great pains to point out the relationship the GOP has with Big Oil. But then, it’s always more fun to focus on Republican clichés than the dismal handling of a lost opportunity on behalf of your golden boy Obama. Or is it a golden calf? At this point, who’s to say?
Of course it should be no secret President Obama has a cozy relationship with the folks at Big Oil. Sadly, it is a secret.
Despite leftists praising Obama for nixing the Keystone XL pipeline (which could have catastrophic effects on both the environment and our place in the global economy), Obama's never had a problem getting big, oily money on his hands.
From the massive contributions President Obama received throughout his campaign, to the colossal no-bid contracts given to Halliburton (yes really), Obama’s fostered a relationship with Big Oil so shameful it would make Captain Planet shave his mullet in mourning.
"Also, don't accept foreign donations from oil-rich scumbags!"
It should be noted Obama only objects to the "immorality" of Big Oil when the United States' energy independence is at play. Reducing the USA's reliance on oil coming from countries where women are legally raped, and gays are thrown from roof-tops just for being gay? Eh, not so much.
But what would I know? I'm just a racist.
Hollywood and the media turn a blind eye to stories illustrating Obama's Big Oil hypocrisy. Why? Because the truth disrupts the Obama Loves the Planet and Hates Big Oil narrative set in place long before Obama screwed with the Keystone Deal. Put simply, the truth shatters their illusion of Obama love.
When the media summons the "Big Oil" boogie man, they want you to conjure up images of Dick Cheney, evil Texans and yachting enthusiasts with Meerschaum pipes. But when Obama summons Big Oil and dances with it, it's hard for the masses to distinguish who's the good guy and who needs the exorcism.
So the media sweeps Obama loves Big Oil under the rug. When he shuts down a pipeline that would provide sustainable, environmentally friendly (and human rights friendly) energy... Obama gets the headlines, the fawning praise, the gold stars.
It’s easy to vilify oil companies because everybody "hates" them. Well, except when people need to fill their cars with gasoline, keep their homes cool in the summer (or warm in the winter), use deodorant, lipstick or any other sort of plastic product… all brought to you courtesy of petroleum -- not to mention all of the other things we consume on a daily basis. Free tampons, anyone?
People forget those products have to be transported halfway around the globe on ships and trucks that don’t run on flatulence or the meanie green dreams of environmentalists. Though both would be convenient… and renewable.
Yes, these evil oil companies tend to donate more generously to Republican candidates, but they do give substantially to both parties. A mere passing glance at the numbers doesn't tell the whole story...
One notable difference: "foreign oil" entities back Democrats. Early and often. Just read about who's funding the Clinton Foundation. That's what we like to call, shady as hell and a "conflict of interest."
Contrast that with many of the Keystone XL Pipeline supporters who were painted as "Conservative extremists"-- people like former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, countless American farmers, workers and yes, even Constitutional libertarians. In the media, these people are commonly referred to as "racists."
So, if you follow the money, and you follow the actions... to whom does the progressive left owe favors?
We have to get our energy from somewhere. Wind, Solar, farts, meanie greenie dreams, great ideas, but not yet viable for a country's massive energy demands. Wouldn't it be better to get necessary oil from something we can monitor, regulate and control, instead of unstable regions in the Middle East where massive human rights tragedies occur on a daily basis? As you read this article, one gay man somewhere in the Middle East was murdered (probably) for being gay. Also, child brides.
Countries with nowhere near the EPA standards we have here in North America, countries which transport oil on giant ships, sending them halfway across the ocean where spills occur with such regularity it no longer even makes the news... that's where the rejectors of the Keystone XL pipeline deal we'll be getting our oil. Put that in your petroleum-based pipe and smoke it.
So maybe you and your net-environmentalist friends see the KeystoneXL rejection as a moral victory, but it certainly has nothing to do with a cleaner environment. Don't be daft.
