Elon Musk's purchase of Twitter is on hold (according to Elon Musk) until they figure out how many Twitter users are fake. There is an SEC report that's in dispute. Finding out that 50% of Joe Biden's supporters are fake was troubling. Now, research shows another prominent Twitter user has close to 25% fake followers. Elon Musk

SparkToro (the same cats who found out about Biden) and Followerwonk did an audit of Musk's account. Their findings uncovered that 23.42% are either fake or SPAM accounts.

The two firms also estimated that 70% of Musk’s followers are accounts that haven’t tweeted in 90 days. So, 70% of the people who follow Elon Musk, unless they are logging on just to read other tweets, barely use the platform and could have no idea that Musk purchased it.

There have been similar studies about Twitter usage. 25% of users are said to be responsible for 91% of all tweets. Twitter is the least used of all social media platforms. Its overdue influence is mostly based on its being popular with the three most vapid groups in existence: politicians, reporters (that includes bloggers and journalismers), and celebrities.

Elon has said one of his first orders of business is to do something about Twitter's bot problem. The rub is that he's finding out the bot problem is worse than he thought and that he may have just purchased a lemon, pending a full investigation.

One can only assume things are being dealt with behind the scenes and that Musk will report to us on Twitter when he's bored. I will report back when he does. I'm in the 30% of real ones.
