All the news whirling around this week is about Elon Musk’s moves to take over Twitter. His various moves around the proverbial chessboard have been covered in depth by everyone and anyone. How you feel about it depends primarily on your political leanings. Right-wingers seem in favor of the self-described free-speech absolutist taking the reins at the social media giant. Lefties… Not so much.

And while the TED Talk he did yesterday started with him explaining everything he thought about Twitter and what he’d do if he were to acquire it, that’s been so beaten into everyone’s head as to be annoying, at this point. The best part, I thought, was toward the very end of his interview, when the interviewer began asking more personal questions.

Musk was asked about his curiosity surrounding how the universe works and the meaning of it all, and his answer, while somewhat meandering—as is his style—manages to be both deep and comically light-hearted at the same time.

“Actually, I ended up reading The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, which is actually a book on philosophy just sort of disguised as a silly humor book. […] And Adams makes the point that it’s actually the question that is harder than the answer. You know, he sort of makes a joke that the answer is 42. That number does pop up a lot, and 420 is just 10 times 42. You make a triangle with 42 degrees and two 69s. So, there’s no such thing as a perfect triangle, or is there?”

I probably laughed far too hard at this passing comment, but it was so unexpected in the conversation that I couldn’t help myself. I hope it made you, our readers, chuckle a little bit, too.

Not everything has to be so serious. Notwithstanding the fervor with which I write for this blog, I certainly don’t take everything seriously.
