It was a year ago when NYC-based social media influencer Rep. AOC wouldn't calm down about robot police dogs. I can't wait for the Instagram live stream complaining about robot police drones. The New York Post reports that, because crime in the city has become so bad, Mayor Eric Adams is considering using drones to fight it.

The mayor could just change city policies that encourage crime. Instead, he wants robots. But according to one person familiar with the mayor's thinking, "Eric is a big booster of drones and how they can be used to streamline government function." Rest assured, whatever he would roll out would be restrained. So, at least there's that.

The way the drones would work is they would patrol the skies. If a crime happened, say a gunshot, the drones would get there in a minute flat. They wouldn't be weaponized or be able to provide facial recognition. But they can film what's going on and relay the information back to the police, so the police can arrest the suspect, book them... and still let them back out on the streets because that's what city policies say to do.

The drones can also give a verbal warning to the alleged lawbreaker. Tell them to "knock off all that evil" like other crime fighters.

A spokesman for the mayor's office says the mayor doesn't comment on private conversations.

Eric Adams could give police the support they need to fight crime. He could make it so when you get arrested for a violent assault, you aren't allowed back out on the street to commit more violent assaults. Instead, robots. I feel bad for the people who live in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Once those mayors catch wind of this, they'll get their own drones. Only the drones will be to go after people who eat a cheeseburger or use the wrong pronouns.
