Ford electric trucks just became more expensive after Democrats pass 'tax credit' so you buy one
At some point this week, maybe even today, Joe Biden is going to sign the so-called "Inflation Reduction Act' (that doesn't reduce inflation) into law. One of the ways the bill DOESN'T fight inflation is by increasing government spending and giving Americans a $7500 tax credit if they buy a luxury electric vehicle. And in what I'm sure is nothing more than coincidental timing, Ford announced the cost of their EV trucks is increasing by $8500.
Psst, that's a thousand more than the tax credit. I know the White House isn't good at math, but LOL.
To be clear, the price increase was announced on August 9, and the so-called "Inflation Reduction Act' (that doesn't reduce inflation) didn't pass the House until August 13. So, Ford raised the prices BEFORE the law was passed over the weekend... but after it was clear it was going to pass.
Why the increase in costs? Inflation! Or “significant material cost increases and other factors.”
Also, and we want to be fair to Ford, they aren't the only EV manufacturers who raised costs recently: GM, Tesla, Rivian, Lucid... really, all the companies. They raised the cost of their vehicles due to inflation. And Joe Biden is giving you a tax credit in the so-called "Inflation Reduction Act" (that doesn't reduce inflation) that barely covers the increase.
The "inflation-reducing" aspects are mainly green energy tax credit-related. On CNN this weekend, as Blonde McRBF "suddenly" realized the so-called "Inflation Reduction Act" doesn't reduce inflation, she called on Biden Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm to explain herself. Granholm pointed specifically to "the tax credits that are at the dealership for the automotive sector for electric vehicles." Oh, and if you spend money you don't have right now (again, because of inflation) and install an electric vehicle charging station in your home, you can get a another tax credit.
