'Absolutely fake news': Former leftist Italian PM blasts media calling Giorgia Meloni a return to fascism
Democrats in America are fond of calling people who disagree with them fascist. Or, more accurately, "semi-fascist." Then they claim they didn't even though we all heard them. It's no surprise that the media would call Italy's new conservative prime minister Giorgia Meloni a return to fascism. She too has a different opinion from the left, and the media does what they're told. One person who disagrees? Former democrat Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.
He's coming to his rival's defense against media attacks. And doing so on CNN!
Matteo Renzi was the Italian prime minister from 2014-2016. He’s a lefty but tells CNN:
‘Personally I was against Georgia Meloni. I’m not her best friend. We are rivals but she is not a danger to democracy. The idea there is a risk of fascism in Italy is absolutely fake news.’ pic.twitter.com/F1QXqcLDMo

So all those headlines like "Italy Could Elect Its First Far-Right Leader Since Mussolini," "Georgia Meloni and the far right: Is fascism back in Italy?," "he Return of Fascism in Italy?" You are all fake news. But don't take my word for it.
I think Meloni is not a danger to Italian democracy. She is my rival, and we will continue to fight each other, but the idea that now there is a risk of fascism in Italy is absolutely fake news.
In case you didn't hear him.
That is very important, because I fought against her, but at the same time, I think there is not a danger for fascism in Italy.
It's alarming that Democrats in this country have such little disregard for democracy and our institutions that they would casually accuse someone of fascism to push their radical political agenda. Opposing things like illegal immigration, indoctrinating students with gender ideology, renaming "women" as "birthing people," and everything else that leftists and the media (but I repeat myself) have made a part of their identity is not fascism. In a bygone era of pre-2021, it was what normal people thought.
Democrats should follow the lead of their Italian counterparts and have more respect for voters who disagree with them.
