Guardian Reporter: Alfie Evans Story About Conservatives Bashing NHS
The Alfie Evans story is horrible to anyone who has a functioning heart (see Dear 'Compassionate' Leftists: Your Complicit Silence on Alfie Evans is Deafening and LATEST: Judge Sentences Baby Alfie to Die Despite Alternate Care Options). Or the ability to get stabby. But for Ben Jacobs from The Guardian, what the story is really about is the way conservatives are criticizing the NHS. We're probably overreaching too.

The case of Alfie Evans, a 23-month-old child with a neurodegenerative disease that has received extensive coverage from outlets like Fox News and become a rallying cry for social conservatives.
You got us! It is a rallying cry. For people who think starving a baby to death by government mandate is morally reprehensible. I have no problems proudly admitting that. Way to boil the stories down to the essentials, Spanky.
Conservatives, and Alfie's parents, are the villains here. The true heroes are the government who ruled against the family. And who are starving a child to death.
I dare you to read this next part without getting sick.
The child’s parents have pushed a British court to allow the child to fly to the Vatican for emergency medical treatment after doctors agreed all further treatment futile and had his life support withdrawn. However, a judge in Manchester ruled against them, the latest in a series of court decisions where judges have agreed that there is no hope of recovery.
You hear a lot about the culture wars. Here's are the two sides. One side thinks parents should decide what's best for their children. Exhaust every possible option to save them. The other side thinks all your kids belong to the government. What government says goes.
I know what side I'm on. And I'll make no apologies.
