When we write about politicians passing laws concerning our second amendment rights, it's usually a bill that wants to restrict those rights. This bill that just passed the Iowa House is refreshing because they actually make it easier to obtain a gun. If signed into law, Iowans will be able to carry and purchase firearms WITHOUT a permit. Gun control, gun schmontrol!

The House passed the measure, House File 756, on a 60-37 vote Wednesday night after several hours of debate. Every Republican representative, as well as Democratic Rep. Wes Breckenridge, supported the bill, while all other Democrats were opposed. Similar legislation has passed through committee in the Iowa Senate but has not received a floor vote.

The bill now goes to the state senate. The two sides are divided as you can expect. Republicans point to the second amendment, and how it should be easier for law-abiding citizens to protect themselves and their loved ones. Democrats counter with, "Yargle Blargle, boomsticks make me cry tears."

More interesting than the gun rights aspect is something we see happening in other states as well. South Dakota is pushing back on Joe Biden's climate agenda. North Dakota is pushing back on mask mandates. Arkansas is working on a bill to protect women's sports. Iowa is pushing this bill, possibly in response to Democrats starting in with gun control again. In under 100 days, Joe Biden has put forth one of the most radical, extreme, partisan leftist agendas America has ever seen. It appeals to people primarily New York City, Washington DC, and California. The "flyover country" in the middle isn't having it.

State legislatures are doing the job they've been elected to do by their constituents and pushing back. From a federalism standpoint, things could get very interesting because the leftists that Joe Biden panders to hate it when people have opposing viewpoints. They feel it's their role to lecture everyone on how to live their lives. Yes, even rubes in states the same leftists would never be caught dead in. As more states push legislation to counter the leftist agenda, leftist organizations will most likely fight back. We could theoretically see a lot of these laws be fought all the way to the Supreme Court.

Suddenly, voting for Trump so he could appoint THREE people to the bench was a wise decision.
