GUN WIN: Missouri Eliminates Unconstitutional Concealed Carry Requirements
It's rare we actually have reason to celebrate whenever a gun law gets passed. Usually they entail more restrictions and mind-numbing bureaucracy (see Progressive Seattle Passes Useless Gun Control Tax Law). But this time? This is one of those special occasions where the new law doesn't impede on freedoms. Be still, my beating heart!
Bonus points, Missouri just triggered gaggles of liberals everywhere... Because they passed a law that quashes concealed carry requirements. The result? More freedom.
For the second time Wednesday, Republicans turned to a parliamentary maneuver to kill a Democratic filibuster and force a vote on a bill, this time to override Gov. Jay Nixon's veto of a bill eliminating training and permit requirements to carry a concealed gun in public. After shutting down debate, the Senate voted to override the governor's veto on a 24-6 party line vote. The bill moved to the House, where it was quickly approved 112-41. It becomes law in 30 days.
More Freedom? Yes please.
Clearly, this is a step in the right direction in the realm of concealed carries. But that's not all. Yes, there's really more. And it's not even Christmas. The bill encompasses more than just concealed carry requirements. It also enables people to readily defend themselves in a legal manner.
The wide-ranging bill would also... implement a "stand your ground" law that says people no longer have a duty to try to retreat before using lethal force if they think their life is in danger. The bill will would expand the castle doctrine to permit invited guests in a home to use deadly force on intruders.
This is big. Self defense just got a whole lot easier for Missourians. If you peek at the comment section of the original article, you'll see people quick to denounce the changes. Because "common sense gun control." The thing is, this law has little affect on criminals. Hence the whole "crime" part of being a criminal. Laws have no bearing on them. But regular, law-abiding people? They're greatly affected (or limited) by laws. Thus, this is great news for them. No more sitting in duck-like manner. Time to spread those wings and not die. Because now you can protect yourself without breaking the law. YAY FREEDOM!
Oh, and if you're out there screaming "COMMON SENSE GUN LAWS" and stuff? Make sure you're not an idiot. Here's a good test:
