Stop me if you've heard this one before. Someone posts a video of them doing things on the internet. An X-Twitter troll shares it and attacks them for it. Everyone else has an opinion, and it becomes all anyone is talking about. Our most recent example of this is Hannah Barron vs. Samirah Khan, a video I guarantee you've seen while scrolling.

Hannah is someone who likes to hunt, fish, and build homes with her dad. Samirah describes herself as a news analyst who is a part of something called the "Abrahamic Alliance Against Globalism." Samirah shared a video of Hannah working on a home and used her to attack all American women, who are, quote, "literally men."

If the above X-Twitter post is not displaying the Community Notes, someone added, "This post is an example of engagement baiting that has turned into bullying all for Ad-rev share." I'm not a fan of the word "bullying" here. It gives too much credit to trolls.

But the engagement bait worked, not that people were without valid points.

The fellas had some thoughts on the matter too.

Hannah was too busy touching grass to know that she was trending. Once she found out, she had this to say in response:

I would tell y’all this girl’s name but I can’t remember it because I don’t have a clue who she is, so that should tell you how relevant this person is. ... I just think it’s hilarious because I grew up the weird kid in high school who hunted and fished too much ... here’s a lot of blue collar women out there who are also feminine.

Hell yeah, brother! Or, sister!

Setting aside I'm on Team Hannah, my issue is what X-Twitter is turning into. Most of the changes Elon Musk has made have been positive. Having a platform where opposing viewpoints aren't throttled by Marxist twats working in Big Tech who are in bed with the Democrat Party is invaluable. But monetizing people's Tweets has encouraged crap like this.

Take a video: Hannah, a dad having fun with his daughters at a Taylor Swift concert, girls dancing out in public, etc. Say something obnoxious about it, knowing half the people will agree and half the people will attack you. Watch your engagement go through the roof.

Engagement farming makes being a TikTok influencer look respectful in comparison. I'm not even convinced Samirah is a real person as much as a script run by a bot farm.
