Pastor launches armed citizen patrol after deadly shooting near his church, but not everyone is happy with the idea
Not only do Progressives want to defund the police, but they want to take away your right to defend yourself. At least that seems to be true in Hartford, Connecticut.
If Democrats started living up to their fiduciary duties by actually doing something about crime rather than promoting a culture of lawlessness, we would not have this story.
A Pastor in Hartford launched an armed patrol intended to keep the streets safe after a deadly shootout near his church.

Archbishop Dexter Burke demanded armed citizen patrols after Garden Street experienced a spate of gun-related crimes, including a double homicide near his church in February.
Cornell Lewis, a local activist, spearheaded the effort and launched 'Minister Cornell Lewis' Self-Defense Brigade. '
Archbishop Burke's solution to local violence has drawn criticism from Hartford's mayor, Arunan Arulampalam.
Mayor Arulampalam, a Democrat, said: 'Adding more guns into the midst of trauma, into the midst of pain in our communities, is just going to lead to more deaths.'
Rather than trying to get illegal guns off the street and focus on illegal shootings, the Mayor is concerned about law-abiding citizens who feel so desperate that this is their last resort. But officials appear to refuse to do that, which arguably, led to the shooting in the first place. No one “patrolling” the streets had anything to do with any death, but the Mayor wants to claim with a straight face that this will somehow “lead to more deaths.”
In case it was not blatantly obvious, guns don’t kill people. Criminal thugs kill people and rather than focus on lawlessness, Hartford officials would rather police members of The Walk in the Light Church of God.
For Archbishop Burke, the armed patrol was something of a last resort, a decision he made after growing tired of seeing his community in the throes of violence.
He was annoyed with the lack of action, the repetitive prayer vigils playing themselves out over and over again, nothing ever leading to change or progress.
'Such a practice has gotten old,' Burke wrote. He called it a 'strategy to placate communities of color.'
The double homicide in February happened only a few blocks from his church, The Walk in the Light Church of God, and it convinced him that an armed patrol was necessary.
Armed patrol is such an effective deterrent against shootings that anyone who does not understand that is so stupid it should be illegal for them to hold office. Because when you are that naive, you have no business voting for policies or ordinances when the level of mental incompetence is that extreme.
Hartford is probably the most dangerous city in the state in terms of crime rate. So naturally, officials decided that was the best place to reduce the police department budget and funnel that money over to “social services.” But the only problem with that is no evidence shows more social workers means less crime. It is so asinine and comical that people think that a social worker will stop a thug from doing whatever it is that they do.
As the pastor said, they wish they didn’t have to do this. But they feel as if that is what has to be done since officials not only won’t do anything to help, but they have arguably, made the problem worse. Whether that is extreme incompetence or abhorrently intended is up to you to decide.
