CHAZ started as something to laugh at. Hence the name change to CHOP. I guess because too many people were making fun of the name CHAZ, so they changed it for the totally unable-to-laugh-at ... CHOP. A lot of changes in a week, is what I'm saying (see CHAZ (RHYMES WITH SPAZ) TRIES FARMING AND IT GOES EXACTLY HOW YOU'D EXPECT and SEATTLE RESIDENT SPEAKS OUT AGAINST CHAZ AND IT'S CHILLING). The media may want you to believe it's just a big street festival with balloon animals and mimes and people selling homemade pants. But outside the area, it's growing increasingly dangerous, as Caleb Heimlich, the chairman of the Washington State Republican Party, points out.

Take what chief of police Carmen Best has said. ... Police response times in surrounding areas of Seattle to emergencies have tripled. They've gone from five minutes to over fifteen minutes. When you're responding to a home intruder or other violent calls, fifteen minutes is a lifetime.

Okay. So while inside the *sigh* CHOP is all rainbows and tacos, outside of the *sigh* CHOP, it takes over fifteen minutes for police to get to you if someone is trying to break into your house. Considering how anti-Second Amendment Seattle is (yet surprisingly, they are all strapped in the CHOP), this is problematic at best, potentially deadly at worst.

Yet the elected officials both locally and statewide are all like, "Meh, the kids are having fun."

Who else thinks this is going to end badly?
