Coming off of Kansas City's deadliest year on record, chaos erupted at the Kansas City Chiefs victory parade. One person died, and over twenty more were injured when people started shooting. Three people are in custody as of this writing, including one alleged gunman who was heroically tackled by Paul Contreras, a bystander who lept into action.

There hasn't been a Republican mayor of Kansas City since 1991.

Omaha resident Paul Contreras was the man captured on video taking down one of the alleged gunmen. He told KETV-7 that he didn't think about it. He just reacted.

“You can’t be scared, you know. Not saying you want it to happen, but there’s always that chance. It could happen at work, the grocery store. This just happened to be the Super Bowl Parade.”

As of this writing, no names or motives have been released. However, Kansas City police say the parade was NOT targeted. Call me cynical about the media, but I'm guessing if they could in any way tie this to white Trump supporters upset and conned into believing Taylor Swift was a government psyop, the motive would be known within five minutes.

There are two stories that I found interesting, and that may or may not be related to any crime happening in Kansas City. The first is from 2022: Kansas City mayor sues to block Missouri law requiring higher police spending.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas announced Wednesday that he will file a lawsuit against the state of Missouri arguing a new law requiring the city to spend more on police is unconstitutional. The law, approved by the legislature and signed by Gov. Mike Parson this year, raises the portion of Kansas City’s budget that must be devoted to the police department from 20% to 25%.

The second is from 2023: Kansas City is on pace for deadliest year on record.

The record for the city was set in 2020 with 182 killings, rocketing past the previous record of 155 homicides reported in 2017, according to data tracked by The Star, which includes fatal police shootings. Since then, homicide numbers have been among the worst the city has seen. In 2021, 157 lives were lost in homicides. There were 171 killings in 2022.

The only reason this "gun crime" is getting extra attention, as opposed to the gun violence happening in progressive cities like Chicago and New York City on the regular, is that there was a parade going on. The Left doesn’t care about “gun crime." They are happy to prevent stopping “gun crime” in order to keep politicizing it to disarm you.
