BREAKING The Law? Just Who's Funding The Clinton Foundation...
The Ready for Hillary plot thickens...
Not only did she lie about Benghazi... not only did she illegally use a personal email account to conduct official business... not only did she not every find herself under fire in Bosnia...
Now we learn that while serving as Secretary of State, The Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation (also known as The Clinton Foundation), accepted a plethora of gifts from foreign countries - in violation not only of the Constitution, but also of an Obama Administration ethics agreement!
To quote Article I, Section 9 of the U.S. Constitution,
No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.
So just who are these foreign entities donating to The Clinton Foundation, presumably to buy good will with the then Secretary of State and possible future President of the United States? Let's take a look:
Saudi Arabia - a nation operating under Sharia Law (with its terrible treatment of women) with an estimated 30,000 political prisoners has contributed $10-25 million to the foundation since its inception.
United Arab Emirates - systematic torture and the forced labor of migrant workers are what this country have become best known for, and the UAE contributed between $1-5 million to Hillary Clinton's foundation.
Oman - where freedom of expression has been replaced with "criminal defamation" laws, has made The Clinton Foundation $1-5 million richer.
Qatar - forced labor, supression of women, and up to five years in prison for those who insult the emir or vice-emir? That's life in this country which has donated up to $5 million to Hillary's charity. (They're also a known backer of Hamas, by the way.)
Kuwait - while the freedoms of expression and assembly are frowned upon, contributing $1-10 million to The Clinton Foundation was not.
Algeria - Secretary of State Clinton met with the Algerian Prime Minister after her foundation cashed a $500,000 check from the nation's government, which continues to restrict the freedoms of speech and assembly.
Australia, Norway, Germany, and the Dominican Republicalso contributed to The Clinton Foundation... and while also probably illegal, we should just be glad these nations don't have a tenuous relationship with the United States, or a horrific human rights record.
But legal or not, it's okay, because it's a charitable foundation, yeah? Who cares where the money comes from, it all goes to helping people. It's not like the money actually benefits Hillary any, right? Wrong.
According to The Federalist,
Between 2009 and 2012, the Clinton Foundation raised over $500 million dollars according to a review of IRS documents by The Federalist (2012,2011, 2010, 2009, 2008). A measly 15 percent of that, or $75 million, went towards programmatic grants. More than $25 million went to fund travel expenses. Nearly $110 million went toward employee salaries and benefits. And a whopping $290 million during that period — nearly 60 percent of all money raised — was classified merely as “other expenses.”
As if violating multiple laws isn't bad enough, but The Clinton Foundation provides a huge, worldwide platform for Hillary and her family. When only 15% of your $500 million in revenue actually go towards grants... that leaves a whole lot leftover for travel, speeches, and facetime... otherwise known as... campaigning.
If Hillary is serious about running for President, she should do the right thing and give the ill gotten gain back. Or keep it, and skip the Presidential run. Frankly, I'd be totally okay with either option.
