Today should be fun. According to Hillary Clinton, you can put half of Donald Trump's supporters in a "basket of deplorables." I'm not sure why Hillary decided to loop baskets into election 2016. But as a lover of organizational tools, I can't say I'm opposed.

The other half of Trumps's support is presumably just fly over country morons. According to Democrat math...

“You know, just to be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables,” Clinton said at an LGBT-centered fundraiser hosted by actor and singer Barbara Streisand. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic — you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up.”

“That other basket of people are people who feel that the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens to their lives and their futures, and they’re just desperate for a change,” she contended. “They don’t buy everything he says, but he seems to hold out some hope that their lives will be different. They won’t wake up and see their jobs disappear, lose a kid to heroin, feel like they’re in a dead end. Those are people we have to understand and empathize with as well.”

First, let's set aside who's party was in control for eight years regarding the second paragraph. Because if you start to think, ever, about who's been running the show, that's a problem for Hillary. Not sure what basket she'd put us critical thinkers into. Basket of skeptics? A basket of thinkers? Basket of people who think Hillary is a basket case?

Not all baskets are created equally.

And let's be careful not to run to our safe spaces because Hillary said a mean thing. We mock people who do that. Don't be that. You're not to be sorted in a basket of triggers. Or a basket of outrage. Think beyond the basket. Be a vase. Or a treasure chest of glowing thoughts. Tupperware.

But who exactly is Hillary calling "deplorables?" Is she talking about racism and the AltRight? Does she mean actual racism or people who support a sensible immigration policy? Because those two sets of people shouldn't be sorted into the same basket.

Does she mean "Islamaphobia?" Does she mean anyone who wants halt Syrian refugees being sent here?

So hard to know. A tisket, a tasket, a flower making basket. That reference will only be understood by people who were born in the eighties. Sorry, probably ageism. I'll put y'all in a younger basket. Or maybe just a regular box.

Basket of Criminals 

Jokes about basket cases not withstanding, Hillary is an idiot. Specifically a CRIMINAL idiot. If you take nothing else from this post, remember that Hillary can be put in her own loony basket of illegality. She's not the "smartest person in the world," anymore than Big Squirrel will be the next president. Hillary pulled the same tricks of mocking Republicans as racist, sexist, bigots and homophobes, but with a new twist. By using a metaphor. Which didn't make sense so much as it allowed me to think about ways to store ribbon. Or Christmas decorations. Envelopes. And "deplorables." Never underestimate the power of a good basket.

Here's something else to put in your basket about Hillary: she's a law-breaking, deplorable human being. So perhaps she should sort herself into her own basket of deplorable.
