A man broke into a woman's house attempting to steal her dog. Now he is sitting in a jail cell full of holes while the woman and her dog are living their best lives.

According to WRAL-TV, North Carolina woman Tarika McAllister was woken up at 6:00 in the morning to the sound of her dog barking and Malihk Giles attempting to steal her stuff. Also, her dog. McAllister lives alone and has a gun for self-protection. She grabbed it and "just shot him out of the house."

All I did was turn around and grab the gun. I was fumbling with it. It’s my first time using it.

If I could offer one critique, someone breaking into your house should NOT be your first time using your gun. You should train and practice on a regular basis so that if/when unfortunate events like this occur you are not fumbling with it. But that's a small critique.

What's important is that instead of police finding McAllister's body, they found Giles outside of the home with his leg all swiss cheese'd up. He's being held on a $75,000 secured bond and is charged with first-degree burglary and possession of stolen property. Because this is North Carolina and not a progressive city like New York and Los Angeles, Giles is still in jail.

McAllister is using this incident to send an important message to all other women.

I know a lot of women are scared of guns. I feel those are the best protectors for us because we can’t fight a man. We can’t fight an intruder off.

She's alive. The guy who threatened harm against her in jail. Once again, it's the Second Amendment for the win.
