Anti-gun leftists like to say gun owners are paranoid about needing "self-defense." It prompted a column from our editor at large, I Carry a Gun So I Won’t Have to Say #MeToo. Stories like this one in Houston are exactly what she was talking about.

Police said the men beat her, broke her jaw and took her wallet from her purse. The woman's mother, who was inside the home, saw the attack and called police.

“During the fight, she was able to get inside the house. At that point, the males apparently kicked the window in, tried to get in the house. The original female obtained a pistol she ran out and started shooting at the suspects. The suspects jumped in the car and left,” said HPD Lt. Larry Crowson.

The men got away in a dark-colored Toyota, police said.

Thankfully she was able to defend herself, and neither she nor her mother was further hurt. Or worse, killed. Simply running into the house wasn't enough, as the assailants tried getting through the window. Waiting for the police, which may have taken either minutes or longer, could've had disastrous effects. What scared off these criminals was the woman they'd been beating on armed with a gun. Not a hashtag. Not a "GUN-FREE ZONE" sign. Not Amy Schumer's Instagram repost about banning DEEZ GUNZ.

If the left had their way, they'd repeal the Second Amendment, thereby stripping this woman of the same weapon she used to save her own life. Just because of a vendetta against the NRA being really good at voter turnout.
