HuffPo Says Standing for the Anthem is Standing for White Supremacy
I'm admittedly not a Donald Trump fan (this is a personal opinion), but I'm noticing a trend. He says something I find to be dumb, immature, and/or offensive. Like in the case of AnthemGatedPaloozaGhazi, where the President of the United States doesn't seem to understand how the First Amendment works. Sadly an alarming number of my colleagues on the right don't seem to care. If we could leave it at that, it would be one thing. But then the left grossly overreacts to everything in dumber, more immature, and/or more offensive ways.
Like HuffPo claiming if you're a white athlete who stands for the National Anthem, you are totally a white supremacist now.
That's right. We've gone from a reasonable "I think the President of the United States is off base on this one" to "standing for the National Anthem? You'te totes a raaaaaacist now. Totes."
If white athletes can’t fathom kneeling because they feel soldiers fought for their rights and blah blah blah patriotism, it’s because they are treated as full citizens and afforded those rights they imagine soldiers fought for. Interpreting their own experience as something more universal, they struggle to understand why anyone should kneel. Indeed, for them, the anthem and American flag represent promises fulfilled.Understand this. White supremacy — as in the structures of opportunity, the legacy of/ongoing oppression of non-whites, and the asymmetrical hoarding of resources by whites — is what affords us the privileges that limit our view, making a peaceful act of protest seem offensive in spite of the broader context of what’s being protested. And the ignorant result of that privilege was on full display Sunday as white players stood next to their black teammates.
According to HuffPo, if you stand for the National Anthem and salute the flag before the game, you're the problem. Because you're a racist who wants to hoard all resources for "whiteness." Not, because, you know, you respect America. For the left, the lines are: you're a loyal leftist, or you're a racist white supremacist dog-kicker. How dare you.
This is why people hate the left. The left was manipulated into allowing the President to be on the side of the American Flag and the National Anthem. Incidentally that's where most Americans fall. But then the left gleefully handed both issues to him because f*** him and f*** you. The left got played.
They don't even know it, but every time they push garbage such as this article, the till of Donald Trump's 2020 campaign rings twice. It's like they weren't watching the 2016 election returns.
Any disagreements I have with Donald Trump pale in comparison to all of my disagreements with leftists. Methinks the sentiment is nationwide.
