Movies aren't great at predicting the future. Transformers: The Movie thought robots would be running the world in 2005. Escape from New York told us the post-apocalypse would be in 1997 (though, 2022 NYC is close). And in Will Smith's I Am Legend, a zombie apocalypse that took place sometime in the future drove gas prices to the north of $6.00 a gallon. I don't see any zombies other than Joe Biden. But according to this meme that has gone viral, we do see the gas prices.

As my note to the independent "fact" checkers implied, the meme is playing loose with the facts to make a comical point. One picture is from a fictional NYC. The other picture is from a single gas station somewhere in America. Anyone who has access to Google knows the national average is only $4.17 a gallon, up from $3.69 only a week ago. Also, some gas stations in California are already over $7.00 per gallon.

Gas prices in America are NOT higher than they were in a fictional zombie movie, where screenwriters thought paying $6.71 was the literal end of the world. Anyone sharing the meme should know that today, the 8th of March in the two-thousand twenty-second year of our Lord, they are spreading fake news and misinformation. No one should share the meme today.

Wait a week. Joe Biden just announced a ban on Russian oil, and the people who control Joe Biden refuse to increase domestic production.
