There has been a lot of talk about illegal immigration in the news lately (see #DNC: Mother, Daughter Get Standing Ovation… For Being Illegal Immigrants? and Illegal Immigrant Starts California Fire, Kills 5 People. But it Gets Worse…). So you would think hearing that ICE arresting 101 criminal illegal immigrants (thanks to MRC for the tip) would be something we'd celebrate. We give credit where it's due after all.

And we would... except for the 172,000 that ICE seems to have forgotten about.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials just arrested 101 illegal aliens, most of them criminals with extensive rap sheets, and you and I are supposed to be over the moon about it.

But ICE data published by the Center for Immigration Studies show there are more than 172,000 convicted criminal aliens with final orders of removal still loose in the United States. So based on this data, ICE arrested only about 0.05 percent of the dangerous unlawfully present persons in our communities during this operation, making joyous back flips over this latest string of arrests seem a bit premature.

Hm. According to my research (and feel free to correct my math here), 101 divided by 172,000 multiplied by 100 = ... you really suck at enforcing immigration.

So no, ICE. You don't get a cookie for arresting 101. Not even a gold star. Hell, you don't even get a "C+ for effort.

Is it possible to even find a better example of glaring government inefficiency? Not only is ICE clearly, woefully inept, but the worst part is that they're so out of touch with the private sector that they believe their performance to be praise-worthy. Can any other employees here imagine bragging about a .001% completion rate at their job? Would you want to advertise that?

The biggest irony of it all? In arresting only 101 illegal immigrants, ICE would literally fail "Arresting Illegal Immigrants 101".

And these people wonder why immigration is Trump's single most winning issue.
