A city in Illinois made a big booboo. For once, we're not talking about Chicago. This week's stupidity comes courtesy of Deerfield. The city just voted to get rid of mean, scary guns. Good news everyone, we're saved.

In response, the Illinois State Rifle Association has taken it upon themselves to sue the butt(stock) off of Deerfield.

The northern Chicago suburb of Deerfield is being sued after its village board voted unanimously to ban certain semi-automatic firearms.

The Illinois State Rifle Association, the Second Amendment Foundation and Deerfield resident Daniel Easterday filed the lawsuit Thursday in Lake County court. They say the ban infringes on citizens' right to acquire and keep firearms and is unenforceable because it is pre-empted by state law. They're asking for a permanent injunction and say the ordinance causes them irreparable harm.

This lawsuit is well deserved. You can read more about the blacklist here. Naturally, the ban includes the left's favorite boogey man gun: the AR-15. Harboring such villainous guns will land unfortunate sods a fine of up to $1,000. A day.

Leftists and moderation don't mix well. They like to go the whole nine yards. Cut off the entire six inches. The Deerfield gun ban is no exception. Overkill, some might say. Gun control advocates would rather throw out all the guns and freedoms than discuss solutions to violence that work for everybody. Quash a few more rights for good measure.

Illinois is no stranger to strict gun policies. They're also no stranger to said gun policies amounting to nothing more than a massive, steaming heap of fail.
