UK Paper: so let's chat about how climate change is hitting vulnerable Indonesian trans sex workers

Although Indonesia is a “relatively moderate Muslim country,” it apparently still has trans sex workers. And the Independent claims that Climate change is interfering with their “job.” In reality, the outlet is talking about rain - as Indonesia is one of the rainiest places on earth.
Trans women are among the most affected by extreme weather linked to climate change, as well as suffering disproportionately when disasters strike.
“No one is coming out during the longer rainy season,” said Joya Patiha, a 43-year-old Indonesian transgender woman. “It is very hard to make money during that unpredictable weather.”
Indonesia is particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change, and trans women, who tend to face more stigma and marginalisation than trans men or other LGBTQ+ Indonesians, are also among those hardest hit by extreme weather.
Sherly Wijayanto, a 28-year-old trans woman from the capital Jakarta, worked as a busker for around seven years until the increasingly volatile weather made her seek other options.
“I no longer want to endure the heat and rain on the streets,” said Wijayanto, who joined trans-led arts group Sanggar Seroja, where she now sings with the theatre company and runs the social media channel.
The outlet also claimed that “conservative Muslims” in the country often blame trans sex workers for “climate change.” And I am not even going to get into how Islamophobic that claim is….
FYI, Indonesia has two seasons, the hot and dry season and the monsoon season. Depending on what region you live in, the wind pattern and rainfall vary. Nonetheless, the country has always dealt with a lot of rain.
In other words, by claiming “climate change” has much of anything to do with “ vulnerable Indonesian trans sex workers,” the outlet is really talking about rain interfering with loitering on the streets.
They also claimed that “Nearly 93% of respondents saw decreased income during the rainy season.” Which has nearly everything to do with the fact that people prefer to stay indoors when it rains. Climate change or not, that has always been true.
As a "climate skeptic," that article made me even more skeptical of climate alarmism. The least these people can do is stop blaming common weather phenomena, like rain, as if it's sort of apocalyptic proof. And adding in the "trans sex workers" bit does not even come close to helping.
You really have to wonder how someone can write an article like that and call himself a serious person. But I digress.
