IRS Admits ONE MILLION Social Security Numbers Stolen. Does Nothing...
Social security numbers. What are they good for? Being stolen, apparently. Also identification and tax purposes. But mostly being stolen by illegal immigrants. At least in this case roughly 1 million cases.
And in those 1 million cases, by the way? The IRS totally knows what's going on. So what have the grandmasters at the IRS done about it? Obviously they acted promptly. Launched investigations into the crimes. Found the source of the crime. Prosecuted the offenders.
Just kidding. They opted for diddly squat. In fact, they didn't even alert the victims...
The IRS has discovered more than 1 million Americans whose Social Security numbers were stolen by illegal immigrants, but officials never bothered to tell the taxpayers themselves, the agency's inspector general said in a withering new report released Tuesday.Investigators first alerted the IRS to the problem five years ago, but it's still not fixed, the inspector general said... As a result, most taxpayers don't learn that their identities have been stolen and their Social Security files may be screwed up.
The IRS says its role is not to enforce immigration laws but rather to collect taxes. [It also] said it's prevented by federal law from telling taxpayers who stole their identity.
Emphasis added by moi. FIVE years. Jack squat done about it. Your identities.
So, to recap: The IRS developed a system making illegal immigrants to pay taxes. The IRS then discovered the social security number snafu. The snafu of your social security number seized by Jose Not-American. Or Muhammad Not-American. Francois Not-American. Multiculturalism.
But the IRS, who discovered the problem, didn't bother to alert people when their identities were stolen by those illegal immigrants. You know, because too much work?
Likely not embarrassment so much as having to admit the enormous government agency who takes your money, can't keep your identity secure. Whoopsy-daisy.
The problem here? People don't have a choice when it comes to social security numbers. Much like taxes. Unless you're an illegal immigrant, that is (see Five Shocking "Free" Things Illegals Get Under Obama That You Don't...). SSNs are a must. But security measures warding off identity theft? Not so much, apparently. Do you think any employees of the IRS lost their numbers? You think Joe Biden's number was stolen? Uh huh.
Also, the law referenced above... It protects criminals. Not the innocent victims of their crimes. Not the American citizens. Criminals.
Look, the IRS has given us ample examples displaying how much it sucks. What's one more? Or two more? Or a million more...
Note the relevance of this one though. This case combines two crappy things: the IRS and illegal immigrants. A certifiable bureaucratic enema. This is why people are fed up with softness on illegal immigration. We not only have a system that caters to illegal activity, but it caters at the expense of law-abiding people. And those law abiding people? They're sick of it. So they complain. Then Democrats - who voted for and created this trashcan quality system - accuse them of racism and xenophobia.
See how that works?
