Israel Will Bar Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar from Entry
Throwing political correctness completely out of the window, Israel has barred anti-Semitic, anti-Israel, pro-BDS congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib from traveling to the country. Democrats and the liberal media are, as you can imagine, not pleased that Israel didn't just bend over backward and allow enemies of their state entry into their country. The same country which is always under attack by people Tlaib and Omar consider besties. More on that in a second.
Translated tweet thread from Bibi:
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: "There is no country in the world that respects the US and the US Congress more than the State of Israel. As a vibrant and free democracy, Israel is open to any critic and criticism, with one exception: Israel's law prohibits the entry of people who call and operate to boycott IsraelAs is the case with other democracies that prevent the entry of people whose perception harms the country. The same is true of the US towards an Israeli Knesset and other public figures in the world.
Congressmen Talib and Omar are leading activists in promoting boycott legislation against Israel in the US Congress. Only a few days ago, we received their visitation plan, and it became clear that they were planning a campaign whose sole purpose was to strengthen the boycott and negate Israel's legitimacy.
For example, they defined their visit destination as "Palestine" rather than "Israel," and unlike all Democratic and Republican congressmen to date, they have avoided seeking any meeting with an official Israeli official in both the government and the opposition.
A week ago, Israel welcomed some 70 Democratic and Republican congressmen who expressed broad bipartisan support in Israel, expressed just a month ago in overwhelming opposition to the congressional vote against the BDS.
By contrast, the two-member congressional visitation plan shows that their intent is to hurt Israel and increase its unrest against it. Also, the organization that sponsors the visit is the Mifathah organization, which is a staunch supporter of BDS and its people who are among those who supported terror against Israel.
That is why the Minister of the Interior has decided not to allow their visit, and I, as the Prime Minister, are backing his decision. However, if Congresswoman Talib filed a humanitarian request to meet her family members, subject to a commitment that she would not act to promote the boycotts against Israel, the interior minister announced he would consider this request.
That seems pretty reasonable, no? Pretty cut and dry to me.
Liberal media, which based on their unfavorable coverage of Isreal doesn't like Israel, is reporting Israel might have caved to Donald Trump's demands. Donald tweeted this post enjoying his second bowl of Frosted Flakes:
I'm not sure he's entirely wrong. But I'll get back to that in a second. Read further down the CNN article after they bash Israel and Trump, and you'll find this:
"The State of Israel respects the American Congress in the framework of the close alliance between the two countries, but it is unthinkable that an entry to Israel would be allowed to those who seek to damage the State of Israel, even during a visit," said Interior Minister Aryeh Deri in a statement. Under Israeli law, the interior minister is the one authorized to make a decision on barring entry.Deri said he made the decision with the support of Netanyahu and other Israeli officials.
I'm going to assume Donald Trump wasn't the key factor here. Maybe the biggest component at play was both Tlaib and Omar's longstanding vocal history of their hatred of all things Israel and Jew. As referenced in Bibi's statement. So if you're Israel, and people like Tlaib and Omar have openly voiced their hatred of everything that you are, why allow them into your country?
There are some high and mighty blue checkmarks trying to take the moral high road by, you guessed it, telling Israel off for this decision:
Respectfully, no. Tlaib and Omar are adults with a lifetime of anti-Israel sentiments. They're going to learn nothing because they're eyes are not open to learning. They hate Israel. They have a narrative, and if anything, they'd use the visit to Israel to nab some "propaganda" footage to spread to their BDS allies. Have we really learned nothing about our enemies? I understand wanting to be understanding, but understanding shouldn't be clouded by cotton-candy flavored naivete.
Think of it this way: ever since you moved to your new street, one of your neighbors has not only badmouthed you but encouraged others to badmouth you, in addition to showing support and sympathy to people who attack you, if not outright funding and taking place in those very attacks. Would you allow that neighbor into your home? Or would you lock your doors to someone who's clearly hated you from the day you arrived? Why give your clear enemy access to your home?
The leftist media hates Israel. They weren't going to award Israel any points for allowing entry to two of their enemies. We live a pretty cushy life in America in comparison with Israel. Israel needs to do what they need to do to protect themselves from their enemy. Up to and including barring entry to people who hate them for all that Israel is.
Think I'm wrong?
