First a preface: rhetoric doesn't kill people. Unhinged loons kill people. But let's not act like there isn't a difference in media coverage depending on whose team the crazy killer bats for. Had James Hodgkinson not been a Bernie supporter (see Rep. Steve Scalise, Aides Shot in Virginia. Alleged Shooter a Socialist Bernie Supporter and NARRATIVE BUSTED: Steve Scalise Shooter is James T. Hodgkinson, a Socialist Bernie Lover...), and instead shot Democrats while wearing a Make America Great Again hat, coverage would be a lot different. You know it, I know it, that pet snail you keep but tell no one about knows it.

At least Jake Tapper is asking the left if they need to dial back the "GOP are Nazis" a little...

“To be frank, it’s the kind of thing you might find at a ‘resistance’ rally. Do you worry that the left has gone too far in its rhetoric?”

“If people are using rhetoric like ‘This president is a traitor’ or ‘Republicans are treasonous and they’re destroying the country… that might give the unhinged among you an excuse or a target?”

Tapper has a point. Behold, recent stories of "anti fascist" fascists trying to get violent with Trump supporters, who they see as Nazis.

When one side demonizes the other side as Nazis, traitors, racist, hate-filled bigots, it inspires that side's crazies to maybe get a little violent action on. Yeah?

Then when media darlings take that inspiration and put it to "art" by decapitating the president for "art" it's rather hard to say the left is nothing but innocent little smurf pillows. Who do nothing but create art and cultural awareness.

Now compare Jake Tapper's take to some of his colleagues in the main stream media...

And of course, the Paper of Record. No, this isn't HuffPo or Vox or Buzzfeed...

As the media and left as a whole starts the hand wringing, claiming we need to dial back "hate speech," remember how long it took them to make it clear they view us as the enemy. Calling conservatives nazis, traitors, racist, bigots, and any other insult they see fit to sling at us. While they use violence in their art.
