Watch: Jason Aldean SHUTS DOWN woke reporter's attempt to shame him for "Small Town" video (but he might change one thing)
Jason Aldean is back to pushing back on the "controversy" over his "Try That in a Small Town" video that dropped at the beginning of the summer. The album the song is on, Highway Desperado, comes out Friday, so Aldean is being given a fresh round of media interviews to apologize. SPOILER: he does not. However, there is one thing he "might" change. Emphasis on "might."
To recap, in July, Aldean released a song about the crime and violence that has grown common in progressive cities. It's what happens when progressive voters elect progressive politicians to enact progressive policies that lead to all the crime and violence. They don't play that in small towns. AKA, Real America.
In the video, Aldean performed in front of a courthouse that was also in the Hannah Montana Movie. Among lots of news clips shown on the building, some were from the Black Lives Matter riots of 2020. It caused leftists to cry RAAAAAAAACISM.
An interesting addendum to that. Since the video's release and the controversy surrounding it, Black Lives Matter has come out in support of Hamas killing 1400 Jews, and brands are trying to pretend they never supported the Marxist political organization.
With three months to think about what he did, CBS News wanted to know if Aldean had anything to say for himself.
"There were people of all colors doing stuff in the video. That’s what I don’t understand. There were white people in there. There were black people. I mean, this video did not shine a light on one specific group and say, ‘That’s the problem.’ Anybody who saw that in the video, then you weren’t looking hard enough.”
Aldean still isn't backing down. Though he will concede that, knowing what he knows now, that over a hundred years ago there was a bad thing that happened outside the courthouse, he'd probably shoot it somewhere else. "But again, I also don’t go back a hundred years and check on the history of a place before we go shoot it, either. It’s also the place where I go get my car tags every year. It’s the county that I live in.”
As for the Leftists still crying RAAAAAAACISM?
“If that’s what you got out of the song and the video, I almost feel like that’s on you because that wasn’t our intention.”
'Nuff said.
