Watch: Defiant Jason Aldean tells haters where to stick it, praises fans who "saw through a lot of the bulls****"
At Jason Aldean's first concert back after the "Try This in A Small Town" controversy erupted, there was a question as to if he was going to play the song. It wasn't much of a question, since you're goddamned right he was going to play the song. But it was a lingering thought that was out there on the internets.
As Aldean said to a sellout Cincinnati crowd, the people have spoken.
“Here’s what I wanna say. A lot of things out there, you guys know how it is, cancel culture is a thing, that’s something that, if people don’t like what you say, they try and make sure that they can cancel you. Which means, try and ruin your life, ruin everything."
"One thing I saw this week was a bunch of country music fans that could see through a lot of the bullshit, alright. I saw country music fans rally as I’ve never seen before, and it was pretty badass to watch. I gotta say, thank you guys so much."
Hell yeah, brother.
Explain the "Try That in a Small Town" Controversy like I'm five
Jason Aldean released a song in May called "Try That in a Small Town" that, in his own words, is about "the feeling of a community that I had growing up, where we took care of our neighbors, regardless of differences of background or belief. Because they were our neighbors, and that was above any differences."
A video was released last week that used real news footage of the chaos taking place in America, all of which took place in progressive cities and was the result of progressive policies.
Progressives and the media (but I repeat myself) hate having their agenda challenged, so they lashed out calling it"...a modern lynching song" with "very scary" AND "racist" lyrics.
The New York City-based MTV-owned CMT pulled the video amid the controversy thanks to shrill, gun-control harpy Shannon Watts
Where can I see the "Try That in a Small Town" video
Lyrics:
Sucker punch somebody on a sidewalk
Carjack an old lady at a red light
Pull a gun on the owner of a liquor store
Ya think it's cool, well, act a fool if ya like
Cuss out a cop, spit in his face
Stomp on the flag and light it up
Yeah, ya think you're tough
Well, try that in a small town
