GOP candidate bodies Democrat opponent on border crisis: 'Why was that 10-year-old girl raped?'
JD Vance is a conservative author. Tim Ryan is an entrenched democrat incumbent who has been in congress for twenty years. They are both running for the Ohio Senate, one of the seats that will determine the balance of power in the US Senate. And this clip is why so many Democrats are afraid to debate their opponents.
It's difficult for the democrats to lie and mislead when the media isn't running cover for them.

At issue is a horrific story where a ten-year-old girl was raped and is said to have had to travel out of state to get an abortion over a gross misinterpretation of Ohio's "heartbeat" bill. This rare, extreme case is being used by Democrats to paint all Republicans as extremists for not supporting abortion up until birth.
Ryan attempted to do the same to Vance and failed. After Vance explained his REAL position on abortion as it's specific to this case, he went for the jugular.
Why was a 10-year-old girl raped in our community, raped in our state in the first place? The thing the media and Congressman Ryan, they talk about this all the time. The thing they never mention is this poor girl was raped by an illegal alien. Someone who should never have been in this state in the first place.
Then he turns to the congressman.
You voted so many times against border wall funding, so many times for amnesty. If you had done your job, she would never have been raped in the first place.
That's the other thing about Tim Ryan. While "independent" "fact" checkers circle the wagons for him, he votes in lock step with Nancy Pelosi.

Ohio has been trending right for a few election cycles to the point some analysts no longer consider it a swing state in presidential races. RCP has Vance up by 1.4%.
I hope every Republican everywhere is taking notes. They are all going to get the "are you too extreme" question to put them on defense. JD Vance shows how to go on offense instead.
