Jennifer Lawrence's Asinine Statement On 'Republicans.' Why It's Idiotic...
Jennifer Lawrence has been creeping more and more into politics (read more on that here), but in 20 words she showed just how ignorant she is about things...
"I was raised a Republican, but I just can't imagine supporting a party that doesn't support women's basic rights," Lawrence told Vogue. Many of the Republican presidential hopefuls have identified as pro-life. Some have advocated for defunding Planned Parenthood, which offers reproductive health services to women."
She also had some derpy things to say about Christians in Kentucky. TRIGGER WARNING: Extra derpness. It's sad that someone with so many assistants can't even find one to hand her some news from somewhere other than Raw Story or Addicting Info.
We'll just ask. What are these "women's basic rights" Republicans don't support?
Abortion isn't a basic human right. Here, let us explain while you scramble to think of something else.
Exactly. There aren't any. Normally we wouldn't care. "OMG, CELEBRITY SAYS SOMETHING DUMB" isn't really our style of story. This is more a cautionary tale, because you know this kind of rhetoric is going to be emblematic of the next twelve months with Hillary Clinton campaigning for President (read our column predicting this exact playbook from over 8 months ago).
Just as the left decried all opposition to Obama as “racist,” they will decry all opposition to Hillary as sexist. They will attempt to turn “bitch” into the new n-word, even though there is no comparison. One was designed to insult, demean and oppress black slaves...
... the other was the medical terminology for a female dog-turned pejorative for really, really bitchy people.
Damn. Should have issued a trigger warning.
So get your facts and counter arguments ready. It's going to be a long year.
