Back in the olden days, Joe Biden used to run with a guy who told people to "hope." People in 2020 were full of hope. We hoped it would only be fifteen days to flatten the curve. We hoped our elected officials weren't making arbitrary political decisions. Both were a mistake. More recently, we hoped a vaccine would get things back to normal. Because ... the experts said a vaccine would get things back to normal. President-elect delivered a very special holiday message on that: Suck it.

Experts say things are going to get worse before they get better, notwithstanding the fact that we have the vaccine. I'm gonna tell it to you straight. I'm going to tell you the truth. And here's the simple truth: Our darkest days in the battle against COVID are ahead of us, not behind us.

Contrast this with the sitting president.

That's giving people hope. Joe Biden has decided hope is for suckers. At least for the first 100 days of his presidency. After that, I'm sure things will finally get back to normal. That's what "experts" say. I'm sure they mean it this time. Though, apparently, there is a new "mutant" strain of the coronavirus to be scared of. I'm sure after 15 days to flatten the curve, nine months to develop a vaccine, and 100 days to wear a mask, they'll try to throw another random time frame at us. THEN we'll get back to normal. The experts swear!

But those are all 2021 problems. My advice to everyone is to spend the holidays with family while you still can. We'll meet back here in January to see what else they want to scare us about.
